Learn your personality. Recently I took a personality course that outlined the four key personalities and how the affect your company. They gave descriptions of each and how they work together. Having a good understanding of your own personality and how it interacts with the others is important knowledge to have, especially when hiring or choosing people to work with on a project.
The common four personalities are given color names to make them easily referenced, since each as so many aspects that a given title is hard to use. The basics are:
GOLD (Organized):
- Prepared
- Loves to plan
- Detail oriented
- Punctual
- Sense of duty
BLUE (Authentic):
- Optimistic
- Passionate
- Enthusiastic
- Peacemaker
- People Orientated
GREEN (Inquiring):
- Problem solver
- “Why” mentality
- Very complex
- Cool, calm, collected
- Analytical
- Intellectual
ORANGE (Resourceful):
- Energetic
- Desires change
- Playful
- Master negotiator
- Self-confident
- Pushes boundaries
- Accepts challenges
After doing a few tests, my color/personality turns out to be Orange. Going by the full writeup I fully agree with it. I like to do things NOW. I can’t stand monotonous things, and I like not following boundaries or direct rules. My work skills, according to the study say:
- producing results
- leaning, motivating others
- selling and persuading
- negotiating and improvising
- creating and designing
- responding to emergencies
- managing multiple projects
I found it very interesting and insightful. There are websites that help define what your colors are, and how to interact with others of a different personality. Once you read the options for the personalities, you’ll start seeing people as those colors. I’ve already put most of my family into the four groups, and actually understand them better.
